At Online Cake Studio, we take utmost care to ensure that your cakes, gifts, and party essentials reach you in perfect condition. However, sometimes unforeseen issues during transit may occur while our third party vendors attemt to deliver your products. Our Shipping Insurance Policy gives you peace of mind by covering damages that happen during delivery.


🛡️ 1. Insurance Options

We offer two levels of Shipping Insurance Coverage during checkout:

Level Coverage Rate Coverage Type Benefit Summary
Level 1 5% of order value Standard Coverage Cake reworked and redelivered at no additional cost if damaged in shipping. Damaged gift item will be replaced.
Level 2 10% of order value Premium Coverage Cake/gift reworked and redelivered + additional 500g cake value as compensation. Damaged gift item will be replaced. 

🚚 2. What the Insurance Covers

This insurance covers only shipping-related damages that occur during delivery, such as:

  • Cake damage during handling or transport (e.g., deformation, icing damage, toppling).

  • Gift item breakage or visible damage during delivery.

  • Party item damage due to mishandling or improper transit.


3. What the Insurance Does NOT Cover

The following are not covered under this insurance:

  • Customer dissatisfaction with design, color, or flavor after delivery.

  • Damage due to customer mishandling after successful delivery.

  • Delivery delays caused by natural calamities, traffic, or recipient unavailability.

  • Melting of cream/frosting due to improper storage after receipt.

  • Non-perishable items damaged after acceptance by customer.

  • Delivery charges to redeliver the product.
  • Cream of cake / decoration on cake / flowers packaging issues - will not be eligible for insurance claims until unless they are severely damaged.
  • Name/ message on cake not written.

🎂 4. Claim Process

If your order arrives damaged, please follow these steps:

  1. Take clear photos/videos of the damaged item immediately upon receipt.

  2. Contact our support team via Call, WhatsApp (💬 WhatsApp: +91 75500 11381) or email at support@onlinecakestudio.com within 5 minutes of delivery, in the presence of the delivery person.

  3. Provide:

    • Order ID

    • Delivery photo/video evidence

    • Short description of the issue

4. Once verified:

  • Level 1 Insurance → We will rework/replace and redeliver the same cake or item at no additional cost.

  • Level 2 Insurance → We will rework/replace and redeliver the cake plus an additional 500g cake (of similar or matching flavor) as compensation.


🧾 5. Replacements and Refunds

  • Replacement or rework will be prioritized within 1–2 hours (depending on delivery slot and chef availability).

  • Refunds are not issued under this policy, as the coverage ensures product rework or replacement only.

  • Online Cake Studio reserves the right to determine the eligibility of claims.


⚖️ 6. Policy Conditions

  • Insurance must be opted during checkout. It cannot be added after payment.

  • Coverage is Not applicable for Self Pickup orders.

  • Coverage is applicable for orders within Chennai and Tiruvallur only.

  • Each order can have only one claim under the selected insurance level.

  • Compensation or rework or replacement may vary based on cake design complexity and ingredient availability.
